This is one of the most important tourist places in Kolar district (Karnataka). Word Kotilingeshwara is a combination of three words

Koti - means 1 crore (10 Million)
Linga - Symbol of Lord Shiva
Eshwara - Lord

Means temple with 1 Crore Shiva Linga.

This temple was built in 1980 by Swamy Sambhashiva Murthy. The main attraction of the temple is its huge Linga measuring 108 ft (33 m). This is considered the world's tallest Linga.

There will be a very huge crowd during Mahashivratri at Kotilingeshwara temple.

You can install your own Linga inside the Campus. Charges start from 6500.00 and there are no upper limits as charges will be based on the size of the Linga and location where Linga will be installed.

You can not choose the Location as to maintain the uniqueness, management will decide it. A unique number will be given to identify the person who has installed the Linga.
