Dev Fort @ Dev, Aurangabad (Bihar):

Dev Fort an old building situated in Dev, Aurangabad in Bihar state. It is next to a very famous Surya Mandir (Sun temple) in Bihar. Temple was under the supervision of the Raj family.

This fort belongs to the Sisodia Rajput from Suryavanshi lineage. They were basically from Mewar (Rajsthan) but shifted in Dev near Sun temple as they were Sun devotees.

The last king of Dev was Maharaja Jagannath Prasad Singh. After his death (16 Apr 1934) his younger queen took over the charges and ruled till 1947. 

Till a few years back, this fort was being taken care of by caretakers but now it is closed. You will find many people roaming around it and also people have started using it for their cattle. 

I really feel sorry about the condition of the fort as it has been destroyed by our own people. It can be made a tourist destination in Bihar. 

Please visit the place and have a look. Your efforts and concern may help improving its situation and to convert this deserted fort into a famous tourist destination.

Special occasion:

There is no special occasion but many people visit on regular basis. You will find more number of tourist during weekends.

During Chat festival a huge crowed visit nearby sun temple and during that time you will find more number of visitors.

Parking Places: Huge parking place is available in front of the Dev fort. You have to pay minimal charges for the parking. 

 

How to reach  Dev Fort : 

Indian Rail: The nearest railway station is Anugrah Narayan Road which is 29 km from Dev Fort. This railway station is on the route between Kolkatta to Delhi and lots of trains are available from different Indian cities. You can either use shared auto rikshaw or buses to reach Aurangabad and from there you can take another to reach the temple. You can also reserve an Auto rickshaw or taxi to reach the place. 

 

Buses: The nearest bus station is in Aurangabad which is 15 km from the temple. Regular buses are available from different cities like Patna, Ranchi, Varanashi, Kolkatta etc. One can also choose a tour package from Patna, Ranchi, Varanashi, and other different cities which will take you to multiple places including this place.

  

Airport: The nearest airport is Gaya International airport which is 70 km from the Fort. The airport is well connected with different cities in India. 

 

Private Taxis: Availability of private taxis, the Auto rickshaw is very good in Aurangabad.

Accommodation near Dev Fort : 

There is not much accommodation available. You can find accommodation in Aurangabad which is a district town and around 14km from the temple.  

Food & Restaurant Dev Fort :

As this is close to Dev Surya Mandir (Sun temple) a very famous tourist place in Bihar, lots of eateries are available nearby. You might not find all the food you want but you will find basic north Indian food options.
