Shree Mahaganapati Temple:

Shree Mahaganapati Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. It is an ancient temple which is very close to Sri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple. Its construction is very simple.

In our Puran, it is mentioned that while Ravana was carrying Shiva Linga from Kashi to Sri Lanka, there was a condition that Shiva Linga should not be kept on earth if so, it will be established there only. While Ravana stopped there (Gokarna) to perform Sandhya Vandana, he handed over the Shiva Linga to Ganpati (he made himself look like a small boy). During Ravana Sandhya Vandana, Ganpati called him (Ravana)  3 times and finally kept Shiva Linga there itself. It was the belief that once Shiva Linga reaches Lanka, no one can defeat Ravana.

Where Linga was kept, Sri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple has been constructed. Ganapati statue is quite unique made with a single black stone. This temple is small but while entering inside you will feel something different.

Please don't forget to purchase flowers from our old mother who will be selling them at a very cheap rate. Selling flowers is their bread and butter. Please visit the place and feel it.
