Sri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple:

Sri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is an Atma Linga which is the only one in the world. It is an ancient temple that was built in the 4th Century CE. Its construction style is Dravidian type.

It is one of the famous religious pilgrimages in India and known as Dakshin Kashi. This temple is considered as holy as the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Kashi (Varanashi). 

Temple is facing the sea which is just 100 m from the temple. People take bath in the sea and visit the temple. Temple provides many rituals inside the temple. Charges range from Rs. 600 to Rs. 6000.

There is free entry for cows inside the temple and you will see many cows seating or roaming inside the temple. Temple provides free Lunch and Dinner to all.

Gokarna is so famous that it is mentioned in Ramayan and different shastras. It is Situated in Gokarna under Uttara Kannada districts in Karnataka (India).

Best time to visit Sri Mahabaleshwara Swamy Temple: All-time. During summer it is bit hot. 

Entry Fees:  No for general darshan. You have to pay only if you want to perform some special rituals. Rates for those rituals are mentioned on the board.

Buses: The nearest main bus station in Gokarna. It is well connected with many nearby cities like Bangalore, Mysore, Mangalore, etc. 
Airport: The nearest airport is Mangalore which is around 231 km. You can take private taxis outside the airport or bus from Mangalore city to reach Gokarna.
Private Taxis: You will find many taxis or Auto Rickshaw. Better to have your own transport so that you can visit nearby places easily.
