अक्षयवट (Akshayavat) - Prayagraj:
Banyan tree is one of the very important trees as per Sanatan dharma which is also known as Akshayavat (अक्षयवट). Even science has also proved that only the Banyan tree produces more oxygen.
Akshayavat in Prayagraj has its own importance as Lord Rama, Maa Sita, and Lord Lakshmana sat there for some time during his Vanwasa period.
During Mughal Period, Jahangir cut the Akshayvat to its roots. Also hammered much red hot iron rod inside the rood so that it doesn't grow again but within a year, it grows again
