The Mysore Zoo:
Mysore Zoo known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Garden is located close to Mysore Palace in Mysore, Karnataka.
It is one of the oldest Zoos in India which is spread over 157 acres of land. It is the house of large verities of animals and plants (Trees).
It was created by Mysore Maharaj Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar for personal use in 1892. At that time it was only 10 acres and later over the period of 10 years, additional 45 acres were added to expand it. From time to time additional land was being added to expand it even bigger. It was renamed "Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens" in 1909.
Its maintenance is based on the amount collected by the visitors as a form of Tickets. Also in 2000, they introduced a very good scheme of adoption where you can adopt any animal and you have to pay for this. Many celebrities have adopted many animals and the scheme is a real success and open for all.
