Sri Veerabhadra Swamy Temple :

Sri Veerabhadra Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Veerabhadra a fierce incarnation of Lord Shiva. It is located in a village called Talakadu in Mysore districts Karnataka (India).

As per our dharma grantha (Spiritual books). Veerabhadra destroyed the yagna performed by Daksh Prajapati after maa Sati ( wife of Lord Shankar ) killed herself with yogagni.  Lord Shankar himself ordered Veerbhadra to do this. 

There are many Veerabhadra swamy temple in India and it is one among them. A very famous temple of Veerabhadra is in Lepakshi (Andhra Pradesh)


Holy river Cauvery is very close to the temple. People take a dip in the river before entering the temple. 

It is believed that in ancient times there were 30 temples and other structures in 1000 acres of land but due to Shap (Curse), most of the temples and structures were buried in the sand. You can still find sands around the temples.

There is no dress code for devotees but the love in Indian dress. Photography inside the temple is not allowed. You will find many guides and most of them speak Kanada. 

Talkadu is a very famous tourist destination in Karnataka and you will see many places around it. I am sure you will love being in Talkadu. 



VisitingTiming:  07:30 AM to 01:30 PM & 05:00 PM to 08:00 PM Everyday. During festival it is open for whole day. 

Best time to visit: All-time. 

Entry Fees:  No for general darshan. You have to pay only if you want to perform some special rituals. Rates for those rituals are mentioned on the board.

Airport: The nearest airport is Mysore is about 35 km from the temple.  It is well connected with other Indian cities. You can catch an either bus or hire taxis to reach the temple.
 
Private Taxis: Talkadu is a small village and you will not find many options. Better to book taxis during your travel.

Talakadu is a famous tourist destination and many people visited there every day. You will find a few small-scale restaurants or messes. Prices are quite costly for the food that you get there.
